Blue-Winged Teal
Teal are small ducks that fly very fast.  We see more Teal in the marshes of Louisiana than any other kind of duck.  I love hunting Teal because they are a challenge to shoot and they are delicious to eat.  There is a Teal Season in September and we mainly only see Blue-Wings during that time.  The Green-Winged Teal come down from Canada later than the Blue-Wings.  I've never seen a Cinnamon Teal.  The Teal Season in September is brutal because of the heat.  We quit camping at the campsite and now stay in an air conditioned trailer in Venice.

It is not uncommon to see large groups of Teal.  During the regular season, the Blue-Wings and Green-Wings fly together.  Teal are very recognizable because of their small size and flying patterns.  They zip low over the marsh at high speed.  Because they normally fly in large groups, it's not uncommon to shoot two Teal with one shot.  The most rewarding shot for me in duck hunting is knocking down a Teal at full speed coming over the pond.  What makes it so difficult is that many times you never see them coming until they are right on top of you.
